The Member Benefits Trust was established in 1992 to provide Health and Welfare Benefits to UBCP members. Since that time the MBT Trustees, staff and advisors have strived to provide a benefit plan that not only provides short term benefits but long term benefits as well.
The MBT program provides Health, Dental, Life, AD&D, STD, LTD and CI benefits to eligible members. Benefits are based on your earnings as a full active member of UBCP and are calculated on an annual basis. For example benefits for the June 1, 2008 to May 31, 2009 benefit year are calculated on income earned between Jan. 1, 2007 to Dec. 31, 2007.
In 2005, the UBCP requested the MBT Trustees to take over the administration of the Group RSP. The UBCP Retirement Benefits Society was created in July 2005 and it became the Group RSP sponsor.
The Retirement Plan consists of two parts, a Group Non-Registered Savings Plan and a Group Registered Retirement Saving Savings Plan. Your retirement income will come from the monies you have accumulated under both the Registered and Non-Registered Plans.
“The Member Benefits Trust was established to provide health and welfare benefits for members by members. The MBT, by using compassion, caring and an understanding of our industry and available benefits, strives to provide the highest quality of sustainable Health and Welfare Benefits to beneficiaries to give them security and peace of mind.”
